We participate in or host community service events on a monthly basis. To learn more about this month's event, please visit our Facebook.
HOW ARE WE HELPING OUR COMMUNITY? There are many great opportunities to serve those in need in our community. As a club, we partner with local organizations to volunteer and provide financial support to the people and places that need it most. As a young, vital group, our volunteer opportunities are generally very hands-on, including beautification, building, renovation, and organizational projects.
COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING Rotaract partners with nonprofit organizations to raise funds for their program and operational needs. In June 2011, our club held the 1st Annual Rock the Dock event, with proceeds benefiting selected organizations. Over the years, Rock the Dock has become a staple event in Annapolis, where guests can enjoy unlimited food and beverages, live music, a raffle, silent auction, and more. Our 2019 Rock the Dock was our largest turn-out to date! With a sold out event, we raised over $16,000 for the Live Water Foundation. Our 2020 Rock the Dock was postponed to ensure everyone's safety, and will now happen on June 10, 2021 at 6pm to benefit the Bywater Boys & Girls Clubs Clubhouse. To learn more about our event or purchase tickets to attend, check out our event page here.
Additionally, we hold another signature event, Putt Putt Classic, late summer to benefit the Annapolis Rotaract Foundation, Inc. This event facilitates our scholarship program and community service projects throughout the year. For example, we partner with Anne Arundel County CASA, Inc. every December to make the season a little brighter for children living in foster care. We shop as a group at Target, providing special gifts for upwards of 10 kids, and wrap them together before delivering them to CASA. The Putt Putt Classic helps fund opportunities like this every year.
ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY The Annapolis Rotaract Club sponsors a 2-mile stretch of Generals Highway. Twice annually, our members cleans and beautify this area, keeping the roadway free of litter. Paired with donuts and coffee, this event is one of our most popular. You never know what you'll find!
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES Annapolis Rotaract members love to partner with Rotary and other community partners to facilitate large-scale events. Each year, we volunteer at the Annapolis Rotary Club's Annual Crab Feast, the Largest in the World, to help them raise money for charities in need. We help set-up, serve crabs and beer to attendees, and clean-up once the event is finished. We also volunteer at local galas. Decked out in our finest formal wear, we are the boots on the ground, offering hands-on help to ensure the event runs smoothly.
