Annapolis Rotaract Club is proud to announce our 9th annual Rock the Dock on June 6, 2019 was our most successful fundraising event to date! This year’s proceeds will be supporting the Live Water Foundation at CapitalSUP whose mission is to lead the advocacy of water sports activity that will better the well-being of our communities. The net proceeds to be used for programming and equipment expansions is $16,155!
Our community came together with hard work and volunteer efforts from Annapolis Rotaract Club, Rotary Club of Annapolis, CapitalSUP, Live Water Foundation, and the Annapolis Maritime Museum to host an event which will create memorable experiences and ignite passion for people to enjoy outdoor water sports. By providing the equipment, knowledge, and on-the-water experience of local water sports, Live Water Foundation has created relationships to enhance adaptive programs for veterans from Walter Reed Medical Center, programs for children diagnosed with autism and underserved youth in our community, as well as being frontline monitors of our watershed systems through their partnerships with the Oyster Recovery Project and Spa Creek Conservancy.
Tremendous thanks to our flagship sponsors who led the fundraising charge: Erica Baker of Sotheby’s International Realty and Matt Miller of First Home Mortgage! Incredible contributions from our community sponsors: ALTA CPA Group, Douglas Realty & Coastline Mortgage, Sue Weber Wehnert of Long & Foster Real Estate, Council Baradel Attorneys-at-Law, Bayview Builders LLC, and JumpBunch of Anne Arundel County & Kent Island, made our event a ceiling smashing success!
This year’s event was Annapolis Rotaract’s inaugural Zero-Waste event. Thanks to a partnership with Annapolis Green and sponsorship from Olmo Bros. Construction & Landscaping and CapitalSUP, 300 pounds of compost was collected and no waste was directed to the landfill. Double T Oyster Ranch from Tall Timbers, MD provided oysters and shucked all night while used shells were recycled as part of the Oyster Recovery Project. Oliver Brewing Company from Baltimore donated their beer and time to everyone enjoying music from Sean Hetrick and the Leftovers and food from Annapolis Smokehouse & Tavern. The most sincere thanks and profound appreciation from everyone who helped make Rock the Dock 2019 the biggest fundraising ever completed by Annapolis Rotaract Club! The Live Water Foundation will be receiving the final product of teamwork, goodwill, friendship, and honesty from an amazing community dedicated to making our world a better place for all!
