HOW ARE WE HELPING OUR COMMUNITY?
Annapolis has many great opportunities to be active in its community. As a club we reach out to local organizations and various projects to give back to a place we hold so dear. Because we are a young and vital group, we look to volunteer our time and physical abilities, such as the following: ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY Annapolis Rotaract Club periodically cleans a two mile stretch of Generals Highway beautifying and keeping the roadway free of litter. Annual Rotary Crab Feast Annapolis Rotaractors are happy to volunteer at the Annapolis Rotary Club's Annual Crab Feast, the Largest in the World. We assisted in the large donor area serving crabs and beer as well as raising funds for local charities through raffle tickets sales. HANDS-ON PROJECTS We have assisted the Wellness House in landscaping their center to provide a vibrant outside setting for their patients. Rotaract also volunteered time and effort landscaping an Anne Arundel Co. library branch when budget cuts were made for grounds keeping. COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING Rotaract partners with community organizations raising funds for their program needs. Starting June 2011, Rotaract organizes an annual "Rock the Dock" event with proceeds benefitting selected organizations. This has become our major community fundraising event where we organize a happy hour environment with live music, food and beverages, raffle games, and other fun activities. Around the holidays, Rotaract has adopted less fortunate families to provide children with holiday presents. |
